COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Organization: People of Culture (POC)

 

Location: Sherman Oaks, CA   

 

Organizational Overview: POC is a personal growth company that encourages People of Color (and culture) to deepen their knowledge of self through meditation, travel and community. Doing this allows our POC family to dig through layers of generational trauma and create the life that they want and deserve. This year, our focus is on expanding our staff, streamlining our process of introducing retreat attendees to healthier lifestyle options, and widening our already growing community. 

 

Position Description: The Community Development intern will report to the CEO. S/he will work in all areas of POC assisting with the enlisting of retreat attendees, developing content for social media, planning events, etc.


The ideal candidate is passionate about travel and wellness. S/he must be a self-starter who has an acute interest in personal development and eliminating the wellness gap. The Community Development Intern must possess exceptional organizational, communication, written, and critical thinking skills. These, along with ambition and a willingness to learn, are non-negotiable traits as POC is expanding and the position has the potential to grow!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with potential retreat attendees via, text, email, social media and in person

  • Assist in blog post coordination

  • Assist in social media management

  • Assist in Shop management 

  • Assist with POC development projects and events, as needed

  • Provide real-time booking support by responding to POC fam and preventing/resolving conflicts

  • Help strategize on how to improve POC

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate

  • Marketing College Student preferred 

  • Administrative support experience is preferred

  • Keen passion for travel and wellness

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbally, for interaction with clients,  influencers, partners, and others within the organization

  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills, with the ability to proofread internal and external communications

  • Aptitude and affinity for organizing and formatting electronic data and documents

  • Exercises good judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information

  • Ability to manage time, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Skilled in Google Drive, Dropbox, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Canva

  • Comfortable working independently and aggressively for POC

​

Hours: 15 hours /week

 

Compensation: 

  • College/  Internship hours/ credit

  • $500 stipend for term

  • Entrepreneurial mentorship and guidance
