(1) Shea Butter Soap with Lavender + Vanilla
Mmmmm ....if you have dry skin, then you already know that natural oils are the way to go. For centuries now, shea butter has been used as a moisturizer in Ghana and other parts of Africa. Naturally, it's popularity made it's way to black America. You can often find shea butter vendors at your local community fair, park or neighborhood market. Sure, big brands make shea butter products but everyone who uses shea butter knows to get it hand made- kinda like sea moss! We've made a small batch of Shea Butter with Lavender and Vanilla Soap for this month's box and already know y'all are gonna hit us back with a photo of your glowing skin!
Shea Butter Benefits:
-
Has been used for centuries as a wrinkle reducer. Shea butter contains essential fatty acids, along with vitamins A and E, which are imperative to maintaining your skin's elasticity and suppleness.
-
Has natural anti-inflammatory properties that have been known to heal scrapes, cuts and burns; relieve sunburn and rashes; take the sting out of insect bites; and ease the pain from muscle fatigue and arthritis.
-
The antioxidant activity of certain active compounds in this butter, such as linolenic and linoleic acid can help to prevent oxidative stress in the skin, which can reduce the likelihood of wrinkles, age spots, and other signs of premature aging.
-
Using shea butter on your scalp and hair can help to increase growth, prevent hair loss, and reduce inflammation. This simple fix can lead to less dandruff.
(1) POC Plantain Chips
Our signature plantain chips made their debut in the Haiti Box this summer. With such an overwhelming positive response to them we decided to bring them back.
"Plantains with eggs, plantains with sauce, plantains before rice, fried plantains, green plantains, yellow plantains. Baby Plantains. Haitians just love plantains Okay? They also make them the best. Don't believe us? Wait till you try our plantain chips seasoned with garlic, parsley and a few other Haitian signature spices."
